Religious and spiritual poem by "a parish poet" Peter Menkin. Written by the aspiring poet in Easter 2008, the season of the writing makes the work more telling. The title says all as an introduction to this poem, read by the writer of it, Peter Menkin.
The work appeared on the Academy of American Poets writers workshop where it received more than 1000 reads, which is a lot of visits. These artistic notes as a response to a comment on the workshop by the aspiring poem:
"I've gotten a bit carried away, not with my feelings so much since they are there, but more with a willingness to express a passionate response such as this one. I don't know what happened, but here is the poem, written.
I don't think I am the first to express such feelings, but I do think I was modern in this one--if I say so myself!"
The text of the poem:
Falling in Love Again
By Peter Menkin
I fell in love with you
when I had a chance
in my soberness, in my faith, in my heart,
and I wondered if this love would go?
God as man,
God as spirit,
God as Father --all--
I fell in love with you again,
this day, and I reminded myself
you will not go, and thank you
for your willingness to love
one such as me.
